Contractor induction requirements

Council's Online E-learning WHS Module

All contractors and sub-contractors (and anyone else who may attend the site) MUST complete Council's online e-learning WHS Induction module prior to commencing any work for Council. Email to obtain login details.

Include the following details in the email:

  • your name
  • company name
  • copy of your whitecard
  • a photo of each of the workers in order for Council to issue a Contractor Card upon completion of the induction (the photo must be head and shoulders, with a plain background) and
  • Council contact name.

Once we receive the email, we will make arrangements for usernames and passwords, and then send this information and the link to the online induction back to the contractor. The induction takes approximately 45 minutes to complete. Upon completion, you are able to print out the certificate, or we can email it out. Council will post contractor cards or arrangements can be made to collect the cards from Customer Service.

Inductions/cards are valid for 3 years and then you will need to complete a refresher by once again emailing Council reserves the right to revoke any contractor card/induction for any WHS non-conformance.

Site Specific Induction

All workers and any visitors who enter a work site must be inducted into the site. The purpose of the induction is to identify hazards within the site and controls to be implemented. A Council representative will induct any contractor/worker/visitor into a work site initially. If the work site is then being controlled by a principal contractor, it will be their responsibility to induct any worker/visitor from this point on.

What to Expect of Council when working on a Council Site/Project

Council's number one priority is to ensure the health and safety of all workers. This includes contractors and sub contractors. Council representatives will conduct due diligence checks at any work site/projects to ensure compliance. You may be asked to provide evidence of your licences or qualifications, equipment servicing, inductions etc. Council will also ask to review any Safe Work Method Statements/procedures and your work will be monitored.

These due diligence checks are specifically for your safety and the safety of those working around you!!!
