Annual Grants Program

Each year, Council invites community organisations, groups and in some categories, individuals, in the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area to make an application for funding as part of Council's Annual Grants Program. $186,000 will be available for the Annual Grants Program 2018-19 to help support our local communities.

Grant Consultation Session

Applicants are required to consult with the category relevant Grants Officer before submitting your application. A Grant Consultation will be held on 12 April 2018 where you are invited to attend to speak to the relevant grants officer regarding your application or to learn how to complete your online application form.

When: Thursday 12 April 2018 – commencing at 4pm to 6pm.

Read the Annual Grants Program Guidelines and 'Wagga View - Our Future in Focus' Community Strategic Plan


All applicants are required to consult with the Grants Officer relevant to your category. A grant consultation evening will be held on 12 April 2018 where you are invited to attend to speak to a grants officer regarding your project.


Access the Smarty Grants online application form and begin your application. Save as you go. Refer to the Smarty Grants Help Guide for Applicants for technical assistance at

Compile your compulsory support documentation; obtain quotes, develop your budget.


Complete the online application form.

Ask a friend to review and edit your application.

Your application will not be successfully submitted unless you have addressed all the required questions. You will be alerted to
any changes that need to be made to your application when you press ‘review and submit’.

Submit by the close date of noon, Monday 14 May 2018.

**To avoid experiencing last minute technical issues it is recommended that you submit your application as early as possible.

General Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • The project must seek to primarily benefit residents and/or service organisations/groups within the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area.
  • Applicants seeking funding must submit the mandatory documentation as outlined in Section 12 of the Annual Grants Program Guidelines.
  • Applicants must note that each project can only be funded by one grant category. Please choose the one grant category that best matches your project.
  • Projects must be ready to start on or after 17 August 2018 and be completed by 30 June 2019.
  • Applicants must have acquitted any previous grants received from Wagga Wagga City Council.
  • Funded projects may be subject to an audit following the receipt of an acquittal report.
  • Applications must be submitted online by 14 May 2018. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Past Recipients

The Annual Grants Program 2017/2018 provided funding to a range of deserving community organisations, groups and individuals. Applications were assessed by grant specific panels comprising of a Councillor, Council staff and an external community  representative. Successful applications were recommended and endorsed at the Ordinary Council Meeting in July 2017.
