Noxious weeds within the Wagga Wagga City Council area have the potential to pose serious threat to our natural environment, farming productivity and health of the community.

Private land owners or occupiers of land are required under the Noxious Weeds Act 1993 to control any declared noxious weed which maybe present on their property. Wagga Wagga City Council Noxious Weed Inspectors provide advice on weed control issues and carry out regular property inspections.

Our Goals:

• Plan strategic weed management programs for the control area.
• Implement control programs for Noxious Weeds on Council land.
• Integrate control programs with other activities within the region.
• Conduct systematic surveys and inspections of private and public lands.
• Maintain records and report on the distribution and abundance of noxious weeds.
• Coordinate the implementation of weed management plans, including control programs of private landowners, the Council and Government agencies.
• Implement education, training and publicity of noxious weeds.
• Implement the Noxious Weeds Act 1993.
