We used worry about jobs for the future for our children, but as we begin to consider the issues around sustainability, we are becoming increasingly worried about a future for jobs. There is no doubt that the nation, our state, and this local government area all have environmental concerns, eg:

  • Pollution of waterways
  • Air quality
  • Shrinking water supplies
  • Erosion of soils
  • Urban salinity
  • Acid soils
  • Global warming and climate change
  • Waste
  • Refusing, reusing, and repairing before recycling
  • Shrinking energy supplies
  • Invasions by Patterson's Curse and other weeds
  • Problems with feral cats, rabbits and other pests, and
  • A growing list of threatened species, like squirrel gliders and superb parrots.

While these problems often spread well beyond our local government area, it is important that we start at the local level to do what we can to care for, recover and preserve our local environment.
