Home Library Service
“I wasn’t a reader. I always did sewing or crocheting; I liked to keep busy with my hands. I am ever so grateful to my daughter for introducing me to this service as it has given me another world to go to while I sit in my lounge room.”
- new Home Library member who joined the library for the first time, at the age of 96.
Did you know your library offers a free home delivery service for eligible people?
This is a joint initiative between Wagga Wagga City Library and Home and Community Care (HACC) to extend services to its members and connect them with like-minded book lovers who have a few hours to spare to select and deliver items to library patrons.
This service is currently available to some of our members but we are looking at expanding the service to capture a wider community base thanks to the support of our local HACC Development Office.
To be eligible for the Home Library Service
Library patrons who are unable to visit the library due to frailty, chronic illness, disability, or poor health, can have a trained volunteer select books and library resources and deliver them to their home.
If you know someone who would be interested in this service please contact us at the library.
To become a Volunteer for the Home Library Service
This innovative project depends on the generous support of our volunteers. For book lovers who wish to volunteer, you will be given a member profile to select library materials and deliver to your library patron. The staff of the Wagga City Library value our volunteers and they will be given training and support in this important community initiative.
For more information please come in to the library for a chat, ring the Information Desk on 02 6926 9700 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
