About sustainability

Wagga Wagga City Council is committed to the principals of Ecologically Sustainable Development.  The Local Government Act of 1993 defines Ecologically Sustainable Development as the effective integration of environmental, economic and social considerations in the decision-making process.

The environment team at Wagga Wagga City Council aims to increase the sustainability of the City of Wagga Wagga through on ground projects to improve efficiencies as well as community education of sustainable practices.

The Council administration is equally committed to reducing our operational footprint.  Initiatives include:

  • Paper Reduction Program - aims to reduce our consumption of paper products and printing.
  • Office Recycling - Waste products are separated including paper, mixed recyclables and organic waste.
  • Energy Efficiency - retrofitting to energy efficient light bulbs.
  • Sustainable transport - bicycle fleet available to staff for business trips within the CBD.
