Narrung Street Wetland

Narrung Wetlands Concept Design is proposing to remediate and redevelop the redundant tertiary treatment ponds at the Narrung Street into a community recreational area. Riverina Water Nature Strip Rebate Scheme

RWCC Nature Strip Rebate

During the summer months 50% of the total water consumed by the average household is poured on to our lawns and gardens.  This is a significant amount of water given that we are all too familiar with drought.  Riverina Water is helping residents cut their water usage through the Nature Strip Rebate Scheme.

Residents can replace lawn on their nature strips with water wise alternatives including mixed planting of native water wise species, gravel or synthetic turf.  Riverina Water are offering rebates to residents to undertake these works to reduce water consumption.

Check out the  Getting Started Fact Sheet for further information or visit the Nature Strip Rebate Scheme website.  If you're ready to go contact Riverina Water via the Nature Strip Rebate Scheme hotline 6922 0636 or email naturestrip@rwcc.com.au.

Love Food Hate Waste

Love Food, Hate Waste

Did you know that the average household in New South Wales throws away $1,000 worth of food each year?  Sad isn't it?

This is the theme behind the Office of Environment and Heritage's campaign Love Food Hate Waste.  We spend so much of our precious money on food each year and it's devastating when we realise how much we actually throw away.  A little bit of forward planning can save you money and help our environment.

Check out the Love Food Hate Waste website to find out ways you can shop smarter, extend the life of your food and save money.

Recyclabag

Recyclabag

Plastic bags left in our environment as litter can harm our native wildlife and degrade our parks, reserves and bushland.  And those plastic bags that do make it to landfill may sit there for up to 1,000 years!

Say 'NO' to plastic bags.

Take part in Recyclabag and show your commitment to ridding our environment of this litter.  Bring 10 plastic bags to the Customer Service Desk at the Wagga Wagga City Council Civic Centre and in return you will receive 1 reusable shopping bag.

If you are already using reuasble shopping bags, show us 5 of your finest and we will gladly add another one to your collection.

Your plastic bags will either be reused in workshop activities or be sent on to Kurrajong Recyclers to be turned into new plastic products.
