2015 Australia Day Awards NOW OPEN!

Nominations for the 2015 Australia Day Awards are NOW OPEN.
 
All nominees that meet the criteria for the Awards will be recognised and the Award winners announced at the Official Ceremony on Saturday 24th January, held as part of the 2015 Wagga Wagga Australia Day celebrations.

Planning for the 2015 Australia Day Celebrations is underway! Check out what happened this year below.

Australia Day Weekend of Events 2014

A variety of events to celebrate our National Day will be held over 3 days for 2014.

Friday 24 January

Free Community Concert - held from 7pm in the Civic Theatre this concert will feature performances from the Australian Army Band Kapooka, Murrumbidgee Magic, the Wagga Wagga City Rugby Male Choir, Mount Austin High School Hip Hop and the National Anthem Competition Finalists, and the Mount Austin Indigenous Hip Hop Dancers! This event will also include the announcement of the 2014 Wagga Wagga Australia Day Award winners.

Picnic at the Oasis - Free entry into the Oasis Aquatic Centre from 6pm-7pm. This event runs until 9pm with no entry and no pass outs from 7pm-9pm. Pack a picnic and cool off. The event will feature inflatables, giveaways and a DJ! The food outlet will be open for the duration of the event and there will be a bbq with food available for purchase. No glass or alcohol is permitted.

Saturday 25 January

Movie in the Park - Come along to the Victory Memorial Gardens from 6pm! There will be kids rides and food available at a cost including popcorn, slushies, fairy floss, dutch pancakes, ice cream and a BBQ!

Wagga made movie, Backyard Ashes, will be screened in the park from 7pm. Pack a picnic and enjoy the movie!

Both 2WG and Star FM are giving you the chance to watch Backyard Ashes in style from the comfort of VIP lounges! 

You and three mates will watch the movie on the lounge from a prime vantage point. You'll also enjoy a hamper for four people, put together by the friendly team at Cache Store of Food!

And then you'll be in the running to win a fantastic 6 piece outdoor setting thanks to BBQ's Galore.

Sunday 26 January 

Free Community Breakfast - held in the Wollundry Lagoon Precinct from 7am, come down and enjoy an Aussie breakfast!

Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony - held in the Civic Centre forecourt from 8am.

Markets in the Park - the Victory Memorial Gardens will be buzzing with stalls from 9am - 3pm. Come down and check out the wares. Food available. There will also be a display of vintage cars and machinery as well as amusement rides. Sit back and relax, take in the atmosphere and listen to the Triple J Hottest 100 Countdown! The event will also feature a misting tent for you to cool off and also a dunking machine!

Amusement rides operating from 8am through to 5:30pm and some of the rides are even free from 8am to 11am! 

Talent Quest - The annual Australia Day Talent Quest is on again from 1pm in the Civic Theatre. 

  Live in the Park - an open air concert in the Victory Memorial Gardens from 3:30pm. Come down, pack a picnic and enjoy listening to some of Wagga Wagga's amazing talent including Chasing Tatum, the Midnight Owls, The Convicts and the Groove Factorie!

Make sure you visit the Beyond Bank tent for lots of fun activities! They will have giveaways for kids and a guessing competition with the chance to win a giant jar of chocolate coins (the winner will be announced during the concert), you can also help create a giant Australia Day banner with hand prints, collages and colouring in!
