Special Lunchtime Lecture and Closing of Almanac
Special Lunchtime Lecture: Glenn Barkley and Closing of Almanac: The Gift of Ann Lewis AO

We've had a wonderful response from all our visitors and friends to our current exhibition here at Wagga Wagga Art Gallery. Almanac: The Gift of Ann Lewis AO is on tour throughout Australia from the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. The show has been on display since the beginning of March - but it closes in a couple of weeks.
To celebrate Almanac's success, and to say goodbye before it leaves, we're hosting two special events on Friday, April 20, and we hope you'll be able to join us. Firstly, the exhibition's curator, Glenn Barkley from the Museum of Contemporary Art, will be delivering a Special Lunchtime Lecture at 12 midday in the Main Gallery. Glenn will be discussing the works and their collector, renowned Australian patron of the arts Ann Lewis AO, who gathered together the works on display in Almanacover five decades of collecting and philanthropy.
This is a unique chance to explore the diversity of materials, approaches and methods employed by the artists - from Robert Klippel's delicately teetering metal sculptures to Hany Armanious's hot-melt sculptures that solidify the negative spaces of various wine glasses.
Then, in the evening from 6:00pm, we'll be hosting a closing finale, with drinks and hospitality: another opportunity to discover this extraordinary road map of Australian art practice over the last fifty years in the company of your Friends and ours.
Both these events are free and all are welcome; and as always, it will help us to prepare if you can let us know beforehand whether you're able to come along - by phone (02 6926 9660), by email (gallery@wagga.nsw.gov.au), or drop by in person at the Main Gallery Reception, in the Civic Centre. We look forward to seeing you again!
